The strange little minimalist white box of a gallery that is Jancar Jones excels at mounting shows that somehow suit its constraints (75 square feet). The latest solo exhibit displays ten jewel-like works by San Francisco Art Institute grad Sean Talley, who brings a pleasing obsession with finishes to his practice. At first glance, the pieces seem ridiculously simple, and they're titled to match ("Cube Without One Corner," "Slab Relief"). Closer inspection, however, reveals an almost impenetrable perfection. Two medium-sized rectangles are rendered in graphite, but their luxuriously uniform surfaces betray no sign of a human touch. Similarly, the plaster and fiberboard slab pieces seem to have been put through some Platonic surfacing machine.
